"Christmas and Carol" is a beautifully illustrated children's book that tells the story of the Triple S Ranch. In one of the illustrations, we see Old Man Winter's sudden return with an intense burst of wind. The wind is so strong that it causes Carol, a hen, to lose her footing and tumble backward down the hill. Carol is on her way to safety with her newly hatched chick, but the wind makes it impossible for her to keep her balance. As she falls, she drops her baby, which is a heart-wrenching moment.

Meanwhile, on the far-right side of the illustration, we see Milton, a burro, sending out a call for help. It's unclear who will answer the call, but the reader is left with a sense of urgency and concern for Carol and her chick. The detailed illustration captures the tumultuous winter weather, the treacherous hillside, and the small but determined animals who are trying to survive in the face of adversity.
