This scene is from one of the annual fall cattle drives on the Allran Ranch. Model, Tim Spellman, and I were regular hands,

The location is Hooten Wells, Nevada and was originally a Pony Express stop in the high desert. The Pony Express was a system of mail delivery operating from 1860 to 1861 over a distance of 1,800 miles (2,900 km) between St. Joseph, Missouri, and Sacramento, California, using continuous relays of horse riders.

Tim is having a plate of beans for lunch. The rock pile behind him is the old pump house over the well. The horse in the corral is my mare Whiskey, the saddle and bedroll to the right is my gear.
