This crisp winter scene took place one January morning on the Rolling A Ranch. The rider is ranch manager Don Jackson and his dog Fatso.
They had to cross the Carson River to check on some of the cattle. The ranch house can be seen in the distant background. The cold color of the sky was reflected in the river and the snow and you can see a nip in the air. I work for Don for eight years and learned the majority of what I know about horses, cattle and ranching from him.
