This touching scene is set in Washoe Valley, Nevada, and depicts two close friends, Rocky Adamson and Ray Muller. Both have lost their lower left leg and are wearing self-made pegs.

The cabin featured in the painting was constructed in the early 1920s for a Tom Mix Western movie. Though it has fallen into disrepair, efforts are underway to restore and preserve it as a Nevada Historic landmark. Rocky has been portrayed in other paintings such as "Last of the Constables" and "The Redeye Express," while Ray is depicted playing his fiddle in "With Spirit.”
