"Guess who's coming to dinner?" This scene depicts the humor and drama of camping in the wild. Returning from a trading journey, two French Voyageurs (mountain men) have been busy making a late camp and cooking a hurried pot of stew. However, they fail to notice the keen interest of the local critters in their cuisine. As the campfire fades and sleep approaches, the viewer's imagination takes over. The models for this painting were Louie Beaupre and sculptor Gil Melton, who are both mountain men and embody the look, smell, and lifestyle of the rugged outdoorsmen.
