Guess who's coming to dinner? This scene depicts the humor and drama of camping in the wilds.
Returning from a trading journey, these two French Voyageurs (mountain men) have been busy making a late camp and cookin' a hurried pot of stew.

Little have they noticed the local critters keen interest in their cuisine. As the campfire fades and sleep approaches, the viewer's imagination takes over.

Models for this painting were friends Louie Beaupre and sculptor Gil Melton. Both are dyed in the wool mountain men who look, smell, and drink the part.
