This scene took place just past Fort Churchill, Nevada on one of the Allran Ranch cattle drives.
The rider on the hill is Jim Craddock, and the cattle are headed for the holding pens at the railhead in Weeks, Nevada. The cattle are feed and rested and put up there for the night.

I was positioned to turn the cattle down the railroad tracks when they hit this powdery knoll and the heard appeared to disappear in a cloud of dust.
