This was a commission piece from The Comstock Foundation for History and Culture. They asked that I create a piece to honor Nevada’s 150th anniversary of Statehood.
After much discussion, I presented them with the idea of recreating a scene depicting the day Nevada became a State, October 31, 1864. A subject on the historic Comstock would provide the scene. A gathering of citizens in a Victorian parlor was settled upon.
